Blue River Community Foundation will conduct two free scholarship workshops for Shelby County students graduating in 2027.
The workshop dates are June 18 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and July 16 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Both workshops will be held at the foundation, 54 W. Broadway in Shelbyville.
Information in the workshop includes:
- Understanding more about the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship and BRCF administered scholarship opportunities
- Learning to write an expressive scholarship essay
- Interviewing do’s and don’ts
- Choosing the perfect recommender
- Collecting tips for completing specific sections of the application
- Listening to suggestions from a panel of BRCF scholar alumni on the transition from high school to college
Each workshop covers the same information and additional details are provided to each registered student prior to the workshop.

BRCF scholarships are awarded from over 118 scholarship funds administered by the foundation. These funds were established by donors with the intent to provide financial support to student pursuing post-secondary education degrees and credentials.
In addition, BRCF administers the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Shelby County students.
