A fatal crash in Starke County Friday night.
About 8 a.m., Starke County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of CR 800 E. and CR 50 S. in Knox.
An initial investigation revealed that a 2024 Dodge Durango driven by Linda Caudill, 75, of North Judson, was traveling northbound on CR 800 E. Caudill’s vehicle entered the intersection at CR 50 S. and was struck by a motorcycle. The motorcycle, a Suzuki driven by Derrick Shepherd, 20, of Knox, was traveling eastbound on CR 50 S. and struck the driver side of Caudill’s vehicle.
Shepherd was declared dead at the scene. Caudill was transported to a local hospital for her injuries.
At this point, this is an ongoing investigation. The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Knox Police Department, Washington Township Fire Department, the Starke County Coroner’s office, and Starke County EMS.
