Drivers with the Council on Aging drove 55,180 miles during the second quarter of the year by providing a total of 7,282 trips.
Janis Holiday, Executive Director of the Council on Aging, presented the second quarter report to the County Commissioners on Monday. She noted that last Friday was a record-setting day, with 173 trips completed. However, she also mentioned that they had 60 in-county denials and 113 out-of-county denials in April, May, and June. There was no explanation for the denials, but Holiday mentioned that their four newest vans are out of service due to recalls. She then put two of the older vans back in service, leaving them short two vehicles.
Expenses for the transportation services in the second quarter were $139,769, and revenues totaled $12,763, with net costs at $127,006. The 5311 Rural Transit claim approved by the commissioners was $63,503. State Funds will pay $15,000 leaving the local match at $48,503.
Holiday also mentioned the annual Senior Expo that will be held at Plymouth High School on October 16th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
