Rochester third at Twin Lakes sectional, advances to girls golf regional

Rochester claimed a third place sectional finish and earned the girls golf team a berth in the regional.

At the Tippecanoe County Club venue hosted by Twin Lakes, the Zebras shot a 383. That was eight points ahead of fourth-place Rensselaer Central and good enough for the team to advance.

The leading reason was the player atlop the leaderboard.  Molly Moore captured medalist honors with a 75.She finished nine strokes better than Brynn Capellari of Kankakee Valley.

Logansport won the event with team score of 375. Kankakee Valley was second with a 381.

For Rochester:  Alexis Haughs, 94; Lily Chipps, 106; Audrey Widman, 110; Makenna Jackson, 108.

Caston was ninth in the 12-team field with a team score of 473 led by Alyssa Smith with a 109.

Winamac was tenth with a 482.  Teammates Sophia Shel and Brianna Patton each carded a 109.

Rochester will play in the regional at Sandy Pines Golf Club hosted by Lake Central. The regional starts at 9 a.m. EST.
