Plymouth tennis secured a clean sweep in a NLC win over Concord, 5-0.

Singles:
1. Tynley Gantz (P) beat Esther Williams 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2
2. Sophia Cantero (P) beat Sarah Funston 4-6, 6-4, 6-2
3. Mia Hartley (P) beat Ellie Krause 6-2, 6-1
Doubles:
1. Marley Christy-Emma Jackson (P) beat Anna Stone-Libby Carnall 7-5, 6-2
2. Marisa Langfeldt-Natalie Sheely (P) beat Lilly Newburn-Briana Koontz 7-5, 6-4

3S Mia Hartley was the first match to finish, as she won in straight sets to give the Pilgrims (5-5, 1-2 NLC) a quick 1-0 lead.

Both 1S Tynley Gantz and 2S Sophia Cantero had fallen in their first sets, with both doubles matches notted up at 5-5 in their first sets.

Both Plymouth doubles tandems (1D Marley Christy-Emma Jackson, 2D Marisa Langfeldt-Natalie Sheely) stepped up to clinch their opening sets 7-5 to help build some momentum for the Pilgrims.

Both Plymouth doubles teams then overcame second set deficits to win their respective matches in straight sets. 1D overcame a 2-1 deficit in the second set before reeling off the final five games of their match, while 2D trailed 4-3 in the second set before reeling off the final three games of their match to clinch the third team point..

That left the top two singles matches on the court in the third set with the Pilgrims having clinched the team match 3-0, but with future conference
tournament seedings on the line. Both 1S Tynley Gantz and 2S Sophia Cantero played quality tennis from the start of their final sets, secured leads, and won 6-2 to finish off the 5-0 team win.

“Concord has a solid team and the final score tonight was very deceptive. Outside of the 3S match, any of the other four courts could have gone
either way. Credit to our doubles girls for taking those tight first sets and then overcoming deficits in the second sets to finish off straight set wins. Those wins helped take some pressure off those final two singles matches. Both Tynley and Sophia did a great job of just hanging in their matches and weathering the storm. Their opponents played excellent tennis at times, but I’m proud of both of them for battling back from first set losses, winning tight second sets, and continuing to step up their games in the final sets. Proud of how all the girls battled tonight, how we dealt with the conditions and adversity, and how we stepped up in big moments by playing smart tennis and making good decisions while still playing to ‘win the match’. We got better across the board tonight and I’m excited that we were able to get a big conference win," said Coach Brad Haeck.

It'll be Senior Night Thursday when Plymouth hosts Mishwaka.
