Hunters across the state of Illinois took a preliminary total of 81,225 deer during the seven-day 2025 firearm deer season that ended on Sunday, December 7th. That compares to 82,496 deer taken during the season in 2024.
The harvest numbers for the second weekend of the firearm season were 29,816 compared to 27,835 during the same period in 2024.
According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), there were 263 deer taken during the second weekend here in Lawrence County. The first season take was 407, adding up to a total of 670 taken overall in 2025. That number was down from the 727 deer taken in 2024.
