CULVER — After putting in championship efforts at the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday, and with the holiday break quickly approaching, one might think the Culver swim and dive team would have subpar showings in their next meet.
Not this team. Coaches Sarah Youvan and Joshua Brown continuously challenge their athletes to stay focused, motivated and competing. The athletes are responding, setting several personal records in the process.
Here are some of the highlights from the Rochester/Culver Community dual meet:
Girls Highlights
In the girls 200 IM, Charlotte LeMieux dropped 20 seconds from the previous week with a time of 2:54:84, placing third.
Kari Teglia and Quinn Bird both achieved best times on record in the 50 free, with 25.90 and 28.05 respectively.
Annabelle Curtis also got her best time on record in the 100 free, with 59.55.
Celeste Gram is already near her 500 freestyle championship time from last season, swimming 2 seconds faster at 5:50.50.
Boys Highlights
Cabot Ellert swam his fastest time of the season in the 200 free, at 1:58.62.
Will Kelley achieved his best time on record in the 200 IM, at 2:27.49.
Bucket Youvan swam his lifetime best in 50 free and 100 free, clocking in at 23.23 and 51.74.
Ethan Arnold also achieved his lifetime best in diving, posting a 173.15 final score.
Jack Collins posted his season best in the 100 fly, at 58.19.
Conner Turner also got his season best in the 500 free, at 5:49.85.
After the break, the boys and girls travel to Warsaw on Jan. 17.
