Water improvements to improve Rochester, provide for future growth

Rochester Mayor Trent Odell knows that many construction projects aren't just about today.

They also carry importance in deciding what Rochester may become.

The City of Rochester Common Council was alerted to bids that have been approved for the improvement of the city's water distribution system and a new elevated 750,000 gallon storage tank.

Council member John Garrett provided the report from a recent Water Board meeting with Commonwealth Engineers.

The project includes new water main installation, connection to existing mains, new valves, new hydrants and existing hydrant replacement.

Mayor Odell says the city's purchase of land for the project coincides with a land purchase expected to bring a new business.

The first term mayor details the path that the new loop for water distribution will take.

Odell says the project could be key to Rochester's future growth.

Regarding the city’s new 750,000 gallon elevated storage tank the project includes construction of an access road, tank mixer, site security, site electrical and SCADA equipment.
