The developer will pay to pave the Water Street parking lot in Plymouth this month, and the city will pay for the alley between Garro Street and Washington Street.

During the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on October 27th, City Attorney Jeff Houin said that when the contractor hired by developer Kevin Berger paves the parking lot behind the Water Street Townhouses, the city will have that same contractor pave the alley after NIPSCO moved poles back so the alley can be used as the exit for the parking lot.

Alley excavation is scheduled for this week to ensure there are no surprises under the asphalt.  The alley will then be prepped for the new pavement, which is scheduled for the week of November 13th through the 18th.   Houin said when the paving is complete, the alley will be open, but the parking lot will remain closed until construction on the townhouses is completed.

The dumpsters in the alley may be temporarily placed in parking spaces on Washington or Garro Street.
