Umbach arrested by Plymouth Police, OWI, endangering and possession

On January 28 at 2:20 a.m., Officer Witkowski with the Plymouth Police Department observed a speeding vehicle traveling southbound on Michigan Street near Pennsylvania Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated, and the vehicle stopped at Michigan Street and Webster Avenue.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, 23-year-old Adam Umbach of Holloway Drive in Plymouth, was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Suspected marijuana was also found in the vehicle during the investigation.

Umbach was given a certified chemical test, indicating he was over twice the legal limit. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged for operating with a BAC of .15% or greater, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangering, and possession of marijuana.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
