South Bend woman driving 91 in a 60 arrested for reckless driving

A South Bend woman was arrested after a county police officer observed her speeding on U.S. 31 Tuesday evening.

On September 9th, just after 8 p.m., a black Kia Optima was stopped on U.S. 31 southbound at 17th Road by Marshall County deputies for several traffic infractions and a speed of 91 in a 60-mph speed zone.

The driver, 32-year-old Itesha Nelson of South Bend, was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail at 9:31 p.m. for reckless driving with a $100 cash bond. She was released at 10:30 p.m. after posting her cash bond.   

 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
