Aguirre heard speeches from President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party nominee and current Vice President Kamala Harris, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
It may be a few weeks after the Democratic National Convention, but the excitement Greencastle City Councilman and Putnam County Democratic Party Chair Vincent Aguirre felt in Chicago has carried over locally.
"Attending the DNC was an absolute pleasure. It is always great to be in a room full of passionate people who love our country and are coming together to help us move forward," Aguirre told The Putnam County Post.
While in Chicago, Aguirre heard speeches from President Joe Biden, the Democratic Party nominee and current Vice President Kamala Harris, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, as well as others. He said while it was hard to determine a favorite, all have important messages.
"It's hard to pinpoint a highlight, but some of the primetime speeches were absolutely incredible and inspiring," Aguirre said.
Aguirre said he is seeing excitement within Putnam County since Harris replaced Biden atop the Democratic Party's ticket.
"As the chair of the Putnam County Democrats, I have seen an increase in energy and enthusiasm with the change at the top of the national ticket. Democrats, Independents and former Republicans across the county, the state and the country are excited and working hard until election day," he said.
With the election about 60 days away, Aguirre believes his party will win, but admits he believes it will be a "very close election."
"It's obviously going to be a very close election, but I believe the Harris Walz tickets has given many Americans something to get excited about in a moment of positive energy and the National political landscape there's often filled with negative energy," Aguirre said.
