Plymouth man stopped for speeding, arrested for DWI

Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle Sunday afternoon at about 5:20 on Hoham Drive and Western Avenue. The vehicle was traveling at 46 mph in a 35-mph zone.

The vehicle pulled into the Key Bank Parking lot, where the traffic stop was conducted. During the stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Plymouth’s K9 officer and his partner Castor were called to the scene for a free-air sniff.

It was determined during Officer Fisher’s investigation that the driver, 32-year-old Nathan Carver of Plymouth, had been drinking alcohol.

Carver was detained and transported to Plymouth Hospital for a certified blood test, and certified results came back that his blood alcohol content was .141 BAC. 

Nathan Carver was transported to Marshall County Jail, and he was booked in for felony driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated endangerment.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
