A Plymouth man was arrested Friday afternoon after refusing police orders and barricading himself inside his residence during an attempted warrant service, according to the Plymouth Police Department.
The incident began at approximately 1:13 p.m. Friday when Officer Krynock with the Plymouth Police Department was conducting a traffic stop involving a vehicle at 701 North Center Street.
Dario R. Carvajai Santos, 30, emerged from his Center Street residence to argue about the traffic stop. While speaking with Santos, Officer Krynock was informed that Santos had an active warrant for his arrest in Marshall County.
As Officer Krynock approached Santos to execute the warrant, Santos turned around and walked back toward his residence. Despite receiving multiple orders to stop, Santos refused to comply with the officer's commands.
Santos continued into his residence and locked the door behind him, temporarily barricading himself inside the home. After a brief standoff, he eventually opened the door and was taken into custody.
Santos was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged on the original warrant and a new charge of resisting law enforcement. He was assigned a $500 cash bond and a March 10 court date.
This incident remains under investigation by the Plymouth Police Department. The charges mentioned are allegations, and Santos is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
