Monday night members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety were updated by Building Commissioner Dennis Manuwal on the Pointe.
Manuwal said police have been called multiple times for people living in The Pointe because the facility hasn’t been properly secured. With the violations, the owners of The Pointe were notified of a $5,000 fine due by Feb. 12.
They were also notified that mandatory improvements to bring the building into compliance are to be completed by Feb. 27.
Issues with The Pointe started in July with little action by the owners.
Manuwal told Board of Works that he was asked by the family to inspect 819 Monroe Street in June when the homeowner was in the hospital. The conditions were such that he ordered the utilities to be shut off due to unlivable conditions.
On Jan. 7 the door was found open, and nothing had been done to improve the interior. A notice was sent to the property owner giving them 15 days to make repairs. With no action, a letter and fine notice was sent on Feb. 11.
The Plymouth Building Commissioner had good news about the property at 500 West Harrison Street, Indiana Heat Transfer. Remediation on the site has been completed, and demolition is expected by the end of the year. There was a discussion of possible residential development on the property in the future, but it was noted that IDEM could take up to two years to finalize their approval.
Manuwal also said the home at 2220 Lake Avenue was demolished and removed by the new owners.
