Overmyer arrested on felony strangulation charge following large brawl at River Park Square

A 21-year-old Walkerton man is facing a felony charge and multiple misdemeanors after a large fight broke out in downtown Plymouth on Wednesday night.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of River Park Square at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, following reports of a large fight in progress.

Arriving at the scene, city officers began interviewing witnesses and the various parties involved in the altercation. During the course of the investigation, authorities obtained video footage of the incident, which allowed them to identify several adults and juveniles who participated in the brawl.

As a result of the video evidence and witness statements, Corporal Schieber identified and interviewed 21-year-old Jordan Overmyer of Walkerton. Following the interview, Overmyer was taken into custody.

Overmyer was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged on preliminary charges of felony strangulation, two counts of misdemeanor battery resulting in bodily injury, and disorderly conduct.

Authorities noted that the investigation is ongoing. The case will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office for review, which could lead to potential further charges being filed against other adults and juveniles involved in the incident.
