On Tuesday evening, March 24th, at approximately 9:45 pm, Corporal Schieber with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 30 near Pioneer Drive for a moving violation.
During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle was Michael Johnson Jr, 20, of Indianapolis. Signs of impairment were identified during the investigation, prompting a chemical test.
Johnson was taken into custody and lodged in the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated on a controlled substance.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
