Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department arrested a local man after he was stopped for speeding. Police found open containers in the vehicle, and he had warrants.
On Monday, January 27th, at about 8:15 p.m., Officer Fisher stopped a vehicle moving at 69 mph in a 35 mph zone on Western Avenue. The driver was identified as Jose Torres, 49, of Kenwood Avenue in Plymouth.
The officer determined that Torres had three warrants for his arrest: one from Marshall County, one from St. Joseph County, and one from Elkhart County.
During the stop, Officer Fisher determined that Torres had been drinking and driving and found open alcoholic containers in the vehicle. Tores was given the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and a certified blood test that revealed his blood alcohol content to be .145.
Jose Torres was booked into the Marshall County Jail for the warrants and for driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, and driving while intoxicated endangerment. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.
