Throughout this past weekend, the Indiana State Police Peru Post executed targeted patrols aimed at identifying and apprehending dangerous and impaired drivers across the district.
Key statistics from the weekend's patrols include:
- 282 traffic stops
- 2 arrests for operating a vehicle while intoxicated
- 5 driving while suspended prior/operating without ever receiving a license
- 17 criminal arrests
- 3 felony arrests
- 7 drug-related arrests
- 1 warrant arrest
- 2 vehicle wreck reports
- 25 police services
The Indiana State Police states it is unwavering in its commitment to promoting traffic safety and will continue to conduct saturation patrols – a crucial part of its strategy to detect and apprehend impaired drivers.
"We request the public to play their part by prioritizing safety, whether it's designating a sober driver or using ride-sharing services when necessary," an ISP press release states.
To report a suspected impaired driver, call 911. When contacting emergency services, provide detailed information about the vehicle, its location and the direction of travel to facilitate prompt intervention by law enforcement personnel.
