It's a cause near and dear to the heart of Greencastle Fire Chief Rob Frank, and this Saturday, the entire public will have an opportunity to give back.
The Greencastle Fire Department is asking all to attend Pink for Pancakes to benefit the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center on Saturday, Sept. 20. The event will take place from 8 am to 11 a.m. at the Greencastle Fire Department with donations going to the Putnam County Mammogram Fund.
"This is our second year collaborating with the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center to raise funds for breast cancer. They asked if we would host a pancake breakfast this year and we agreed," Frank told The Putnam County Post.
A year ago, the department opted to wear pink shirts for breast cancer awareness in October.
"We wanted to make sure that we were also supporting the cause and decided to raise funds to do that. There have been several members of the department who have had family members or other loved ones affected by breast cancer, so it is important for us to support awareness and screenings in the community," Frank said.
