Officer Allen with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Saturday, November 22nd, on U.S. 30 just east of Pioneer Drive at 10:45 p.m.  The traffic stop was on a vehicle where the registered owner had a suspended driving status.

36-year-old Christopher Montgomery of Maple Road in Plymouth was taken into custody and transported to Marshall County Jail.  He was booked in for driving while suspended with a prior conviction. Within 3 hours, his bond was posted, and he was released.

On Saturday afternoon, November 23, Patrolman Thornton paced a vehicle at 67 miles per hour in a posted 50 miles per hour zone on U.S. 30. While on the traffic stop, it was determined that Layla Clarice Abra, 22, of California, had never obtained a valid driver's license. While taking inventory of the vehicle to be towed, suspected marijuana was located.

Abra was lodged in the Marshall County Jail for operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license and possession of marijuana.  Within 30 minutes, her bond was posted, and she was released.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed, and there is only probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings, entitled to be represented by counsel, and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
