On June 29, Phillip Land was struck and killed while riding a bicycle on 350 W. south of 500 S. in North Judson. The vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene.
Since that time, investigators have been following up on leads. From evidence found at the scene, videos located near the scene, and using the Flock license plate reader system, investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a black 2019 Nissan pickup. The suspect vehicle was then located and evidence of the crash was found on the vehicle.
Connor Dvorscak, age 30 of North Judson, was identified as the suspected driver in the fatal hit and run. At the conclusion of the investigation, a report was submitted to the Starke County Prosecutors Office for review. Formal charges were then filed against Dvorscak.
