A North Judson man was taken into custody for the recent hit and run fatality in North Judson.
On June 29, Phillip Land was struck and killed while riding a bicycle on 350 W. south of 500 S. in North Judson. The vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene.
Since that time, investigators have been following up on leads. From evidence found at the scene, videos located near the scene, and using the Flock license plate reader system, investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a black 2019 Nissan pickup. The suspect vehicle was then located and evidence of the crash was found on the vehicle.
Connor Dvorscak, age 30 of North Judson, was identified as the suspected driver in the fatal hit and run. At the conclusion of the investigation, a report was submitted to the Starke County Prosecutors Office for review. Formal charges were then filed against Dvorscak. The charges included Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death which is a Level 4 Felony. On Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, a warrant was issued for Dvorscak through the Starke Circuit Court. Dvorscak was taken into custody later that day. Dvorscak was booked into the Starke County Justice Center and is current being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted in the investigation by the North Judson Police Department, the Knox Police Department, the Starke County Coroner’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
