
Last week, on Friday and Saturday, four people were arrested by Plymouth Police for driving while suspended.
On August 1st, at approximately 12:01 a.m., Corporal Schieber conducted a traffic stop on Pioneer Drive near Gary Drive for an equipment and registration violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 31-year-old Chandler Shiflette of Anderson, Indiana. Shiflette was found to have a suspended infraction driver's license, was in possession of marijuana, and showed signs of impairment.
During the officer's investigation, Shiflette was found to be under the influence and was taken into custody for operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance, endangerment, and possession of marijuana. She was transported to the Marshall County Jail and issued a court date and cash bond.
Plymouth Police Officers were notified on Friday, August 1st, at 12:45 p.m. about a vehicle operating with a driver whose license of suspended. City Officers found the vehicle preparing to leave Christo's Family Dining on North Michigan Street. Officer Krynock confirmed that the registered owner, 35-year-old Josefina Cabrera of LaPaz, was driving the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Ms. Cabrera's driver's license was previously suspended, so she was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was booked for driving while suspended with a prior.
Friday night at 11:20, Officer Witkowski with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the Duke of Oil on North Michigan Street. The driver of the vehicle, Landin Ryan Kole Olson, 21, of Walkerton, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana.
Olson is charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and possession of marijuana. He was transported to the County Jail and issued a court date and a bond.
Officer Wallace conducted a traffic stop on Saturday, July 2nd at 2:25 a.m. on West Jefferson Street for a vehicle where the registered owner has a suspended license.
During the traffic stop, the driver, 53-year-old Jose Olivares of East Jackson Street in Plymouth, was showing signs of impairment. An investigation confirmed that Olivares was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged for pending charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving while suspended with a prior. Olivares was given a court date with Marshall County Superior Court II and a cash bond of $1,500.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
