Shelbyville scored five runs in four of the five innings contested at Monrovia Monday and cruised to a 20-1 victory in the season opener for the Golden Bears.
Addison Stieneker, Anna Shearer, Hailey Maulden and Gracie Crafton each had three hits. Shearer drove in four runs while Stieneker and Crafton each had three RBI.
Crafton collected the win, pitching the first three innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four.
Sydney Brown worked quickly through the final two innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out two.
Tylynn Secuskie took the loss for Monrovia (0-1).
Shelbyville hosts Seymour (2-0) today at 5:30 p.m. in the program’s home opener.

At Columbus North, the Golden Bears evened the match with a second-set victory but dropped the next two to fall to 0-5 this season.
Columbus North improved to 3-5 with its second win over Shelbyville this season. The Bull Dogs defeated the Golden Bears Saturday in the Fishers Invitational.
Shelbyville travels to Mooresville Wednesday.
