Class 3A, No. 10 Shelbyville scored five runs in the top of the first inning but could not hold off Pendleton Heights from splitting the Hoosier Heritage Conference series Wednesday, 11-10.
The loss was the first of the season for the Golden Bears (7-1, 4-1 HHC).
The Arabians (6-4, 3-2 HHC) scored four runs in the second inning to cut Shelbyville’s lead to 6-4, then scored twice in the fourth, three times in the fifth and twice again in the sixth to get the win.
Hudson Frank and Caleb Roark each had three hits for Pendleton Heights. Roark and Hunter Findlay each scored three runs.
Brody Stevenson earned the win in relief, limiting the Golden Bears to four hits and two runs in 3.2 innings of work.
Gavin Reed got the start on the mound for Shelbyville. The senior pitched four innings and allowed seven hits and six runs (two earned). Reece Prickett took the loss, allowing seven hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings.
Brayden Smith had a double and a home run for Shelbyville. He scored twice and drove in two runs. Prickett and Reed each had two hits. Reed had three RBIs. Austin Martzall had three hits and scored two runs.
Shelbyville is at Whiteland (4-9) Friday and hosts Lawrence Central (2-7) Saturday morning.

At Speedway, the Tigers scored 11 runs in the first two innings and cruised to a Hoosier Legends Conference sweep of the Sparkplugs.
Nash Durbin, Weston Smith, Ty Bergman and Brayden Hoover each had two hits for Triton Central (4-6, 3-3 HLC). Durbin had two doubles and drove in five runs. Kellan Dishman had a home run and three RBIs.
Brody Hartman was the beneficiary of the early run support. He pitched five innings, allowed four hits, four walks and struck out seven.
Speedway dropped to 3-10 (0-7 HLC).
Triton Central hosts Indianapolis Scecina (5-6) Friday.

Eastern Hancock 170, Triton Central Green 191, Triton Central White 218
At The Links Golf Course, the Royals secured a 21-stroke victory over the Tigers.
Hayden Beaver led the Tigers with a 44. Also competing for TC Green were Colton Ayres (46), Max Crouse (50), Ryder Trimble (51) and Jacob Rayfield (54).
Devon Gurganus led TC White with a 50.
Softball
Triton Central 7, Speedway 4
At Speedway, the Tigers scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning and two more in the seventh to complete the HLC sweep of the Sparkplugs.
Gracie Craig, Jalynn Keith and Ashlyn Hittle each had two hits for Triton Central (6-4, 5-1 HLC). Keith had two doubles and scored two runs. Hittle had a solo home run.
Riley Sherer pitched four innings, allowed five hits, three walks and two runs to earn the win. Madi Peterson pitched three innings to earn the save.
Taylor Fitch had two hits, including a solo home run, and scored two runs for Speedway (3-8, 1-5 HLC).
Triton Central is at Irvington Prep (1-6) today.

At Tri-West, the Tigers won all five matches in straight sets.
At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling defeated Eva Herald, 6-1, 6-0.
Anniston Evans bested Mya Young at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Zhibek Zhumaly topped Genevieve Tooley at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Neve Kahler and Kate Collier defeated Molly Dean and Hayden Walter’s, 6-1, 6-3.
And Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Ella Welsh and Jenna Beck.
