Plymouth High School honors legendary Coach Jack Edison with special tribute

Plymouth High School recently hosted a special recognition event to honor Coach Jack Edison's remarkable career and indelible mark on Plymouth basketball's legacy.

Former players, coaches, administrators, and managers gathered on the court at PHS to celebrate Coach Edison’s exceptional contributions to the program.

The tribute began with a warm welcome to Coach Edison, his family, and those who were a part of his storied career and then shed light on what he has accomplished.

Coach Edison’s journey began at Greene Township in St. Joseph County, where he earned 10 varsity letters during his high school career. He continued his success at Bethel College, where he became the Men’s Basketball Team MVP in 1966 and later earned induction into the Bethel College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.

As a coach, Edison’s legacy is unparalleled. He began his coaching career at Plymouth High School in 1970 and served as head coach for the Pilgrims from 1973 to 2007. Under his leadership, the team won numerous championships, including 11 NLC titles, 18 sectionals, 9 regionals, 3 semi-states, and 2 state championships.

Coach Edison earned recognition as the IBCA District 1 Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.

The evening also featured a presentation of a plaque from the Plymouth Athletic Department, honoring Coach Edison’s numerous statistical achievements. In addition, Indiana State Senator Mike Bohacek presented Coach Edison with the prestigious Circle of Corydon Award, which recognizes individuals who have made remarkable contributions to Indiana.
