Hunters across Illinois took a preliminary total of 82,496 deer during the seven day 2024 firearm deer season that finished December 8.
That compares to 76,494 deer taken during the 2023 firearm season statewide.
According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Lawrence County hunters brought in 476 deer during the first firearm season and 251 in the second season for a 2024 total of 727. That is more than the 2023 total of 618 deer harvested in the county.
