Greencastle girls soccer earned a sectional championship Saturday and booked a road trip to Shelby County for the regional opener.
Monrovia scored first but it was all Greencastle after that in a 6-1 sectional championship win. Greencastle led 2-1 at halftime and opened it up with four second half goals.
It's the third sectional title in four years for the Tiger Cubs.
Greencastle (15-3) will travel to Triton Central on Wednesday, October 14 to face the host Tigers in the 1A regional semifinal at 6:00 p.m. Triton Central (9-8) advanced to the regional with a 2-1 home win in the sectional championship over Greenwood Christian.
The Tiger Cubs will be playing for another trip to Shelby County. Wednesday's winner would play the following Saturday in the 1A regional championship hosted at Southwestern (Shelby). The opponent will be determined by the #13 Shawe Memorial at #6 Switzerland County (13-14-1) matchup.
Switzerland County upset top-ranked (1A) Oldenburg to win its sectional title. Shawe Memorial advanced with a 2-1 win over Brown County.
