Both the Lawrenceville-Red Hill Cross Country Indians boys' and girls' teams were among the field for the Class 1A Sectional meet Saturday at Mattoon.
Neither squad could field a full team due to injuries and did not record a team score. No Indian male or female runner qualified to advance to the state meet at Peoria as an individual. The top 6 teams and top 10 individuals not on the qualifying teams move on to state.
For the girls, four of 6 Lady Indian runners were on the course. Lexi Brooke finished 43rd out of the 143-runner field in a time of 20:37. Finley Herring was 81st in a time of 22:07, Laurel Buchanon 92nd in 22:30 and Ellie Buchanon 97th in 22:46.
In the boys' race, the Tribe was paced by senior Brayan Morrison who finished 40th out of 148 runners in a time of 16:47, Aiden Crawford finished 104th in a time of 18:28, Daniel Kiser 132nd in 19:33 and Isiah Fuller 140th in 20:02.
Congratulations to Coach Wes Brooke and his teams on a fine season.
