For the first time since 2016, the Lawrenceville Indians have a conference tournament title.
They used a fast paced offense and stellar zone defense Friday night to beat the Richland County (Olney) Tigers 55-43 in the Little Illini Conference (LIC) final game at Lawrenceville.
The Tribe led 12-10 after 1 quarter, 23-17 at the half and 38-33 after three before expanding the margin with free throws and breakaway baskets in the final stanza.
Noah Wilson scored 17, Jayden Goff 11 and Maddox Pargin 16 to lead the Indian offense.
The last time they were LIC tourney champs was 2016.
The win was the 8th straight for Coach Tad Shick's ballclub to improve to 17-6 on the season.
They will step out of conference Tuesday with a road trip to Cisne.
