Employees and customers of the Arby’s Restaurant at 1615 Pilgrim Lane in Plymouth were shocked when a vehicle drove through the front door.
Friday morning, May 17th at about 11:30 emergency responders from the Plymouth Police Department and Fire Department were dispatched to the accident.
Police Chief John Weir was the investigating officer and said when he pulled up to the restaurant the 2024 Subaru Legacy was completely inside the building. There were two occupants from Fort Wayne and a 70-year-old female was driving and told the chief she didn’t know what happened. The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.
They advised that a male who was sitting at a table eating his lunch was struck by the car when it entered the building. He was taken by Plymouth EMS to the hospital for his injuries. Other customers in the fast-food restaurant were observed taking photos and just waiting for their food like it was just a regular occurrence.
This is the third time this year the Plymouth Police Department has investigated a vehicle into a building. On March 13th a semi collided with a vehicle and ran into the Hacienda Restaurant at U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive. On April 10th a female apparently hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes and drove into the Goodwill at 1547 Pilgrim Lane in Plymouth.
Lyons Wrecker Service removed the vehicle from the building.
