Over $57,200 in street and alley work was given the go-ahead Wednesday as the St. Francisville City Council moved to accept the annual Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) program.
It calls for over $42,000 to be spent on chip and seal work and over $8,500 for patching, $500 for rock and sand and $2500 for equipment. Over $3,100 in engineering fees were also included. The MFT program will cover priority areas of the city in the most need of repair, as per requests from the various city alderman and is done in conjunction with Lawrence County highway engineer Aaron Mefford.
In other business, the council was briefed on the water tower rehabilitation loan, which totals just over $496,000. The city will pay back around $347,000 of that money as part of the loan agreement with the state of Illinois.
The old bridge is scheduled for repair work on Sunday, April 12th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. It will be closed to vehicular traffic during that time. Motorists should plan alternate routes on that day.
The city-wide cleanup is scheduled for Friday, May 15th. More details regarding what will and will ot be taken will be released as the date draws closer.
