The call from a concerned driver about the actions of another driver on Veterans Parkway sent police to investigate.
At about 6:30 on Wednesday, September 4th, officers with the Plymouth Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to U.S. 31 and Veterans Parkway for a vehicle traveling west on Veteran's Parkway. The caller said the driver appeared to be beating himself up or having a seizure.
Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department located the vehicle traveling east on U.S. 30 and observed the vehicle go off the side of the road and the driver moving all over inside the vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Blake Tipton, 26, of Silver Lake.
Field sobriety tests were conducted on the driver, and he submitted to a certified blood draw. It was determined that Tipton was under the influence of methamphetamines. He was transported to Marshall County Jail and booked in for OWI, and OWI on a controlled substance at 8:20 and released on a cash bond at 2 a.m. Thursday.
