Shelby County Sheriff Chris Holder has announced a new scam alert.
The scam involves people taking advantage of individuals who have bonds to pay. These scammers are contacting those who have bonds due and promising to facilitate the process.
These scammers are providing a QR Code that has the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department patch beside the code that is a portal to pay the bond.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department will never contact those who have bonds and ask for payment.
The only way to pay a bond is through the Clerk’s Office during normal business hours or the bond may be paid through the jail.
All bonds are paid by cash, not through a QR Cody that leads to an outside site.
The Shelby County Post is a digital newspaper producing news, sports, obituaries and more without a pay wall or subscription needed.
