The Shelbyville Police Department has issued information regarding an incident on March 7 at the Highpointe Addition.
Police officers responded to the Highpointe Addition and talked to a juvenile who advised while at the park, another juvenile came to the park and started a fight. During the time, Juvenile One said an unknown person (who was thought to be 20 years old) joined the fight.
The investigation showed that Juvenile One had gone to Juvenile Two’s house asking to apologize to Juvenile Two for an incident that took place earlier. Juvenile One was directed to the park where Juvenile Two was. Juvenile One went to the park and started a verbal altercation with Juvenile Two.
A physical fight began with Juvenile One striking Juvenile Two. During the fight both juveniles sustained injuries.
Police located several witnesses in the park at the time of the fight. These witnesses included juveniles and adults. Most of the statements from the witnesses, including the adult witness, advised the only ones involved in the fight were the two juveniles.
Police were able to obtain a video of the fight. This is the only video that has been recovered by the police department. The video shows two individuals fighting.
Juvenile One has been charged with false informing and battery and Juvenile Two has been charged with battery.
The case has been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for a formal charging determination.
At this time, the investigation has been closed. The Shelbyville Police Department does not have any additional information to release.
