The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that overnight lane and ramp closures are planned on State Road 28 at the U.S. 31 interchange in Tipton County.
Beginning on or after Friday, August 28, the west leg of the S.R. 28 roundabout over U.S. 31 will close nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Additionally, the U.S. 31 southbound on and off ramps will close at S.R. 28.
Crews are expanding the truck aprons in the center island of the roundabout, making it easier for large vehicles to travel through the roundabout. These nightly closures are expected to be in place through mid-September, weather permitting. Work on the east leg of the roundabout at the S.R. 28 and U.S. 31 interchange will begin shortly after work on the west leg is complete.
During these nightly closures, the official detour will follow U.S. 31 northbound, State Road 931, State Road 26, State Road 29, and S.R. 28.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and use extra caution while traveling in and around work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
