Organizers plan for Morristown visitation, funeral services for Henry Albrecht

Preparations continue for visitation and funeral services in Morristown for Henry Albrecht.

Morristown Police Department Chief Henry Albrecht Jr. passed away on June 6 from a medical emergency while off duty.

Chief Albrecht was a 32-year member of the Morristown Police Department, 44-year member of the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department, 10-year member of the Sugar Creek Fire Department of Hancock County, and 6-year member of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.

Organizers are preparing for a large turnout and very warm temperatures and asking the public to be aware of both.

Visitation at Morristown Jr/Sr High School will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m.

The funeral procession route will be from the school, north on Patterson Street, west on Main Street to the Morristown Town Hall, then east in front of the fire department, and, finally, north on Asbury Road immediately following the funeral services. Chief Albrecht will be marked off-duty in front of the Morristown Fire Department.

Due to a projected large turnout for the funeral and visitation, the public is asked to walk or carpool to the school on both days, if possible. If someone plans on participating in the procession and graveside service, they are asked to arrive early. Organizers will be utilizing multiple parking lots in the area of the school.

Parking for public safety attending the funeral and participating in the procession will occur on South Street east of Patterson on Saturday morning. Public Safety attending the funeral are asked to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

For the graveside service, public safety vehicles will be parked on Asbury Road. Overflow parking for the public will occur on 1100 North, east of Asbury, once the cemetery is full.

The weather is reported to be very hot on both Friday and Saturday. Please hydrate properly as those wishing to pay their respects may be required to stand outside before entering the school based on the turnout.
