A 57-year-old Ohio woman was arrested on July 2nd after she consumed items in Walmart and refused to pay for them or leave the business.
At 2:23 Wednesday afternoon, Officer Enyart with the Plymouth Police Department was dispatched to 2505 North Oak Drive, the Plymouth Walmart, for a female consuming items in the store and refusing to pay for them or leave the business.
During the officer’s investigation, the female was identified as Jessica Lantz of Ohio. She continued to refuse to leave the business after being given several opportunities and refusing to pay for the items.
Lantz was then taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was lodged for trespassing and theft-shoplifting, and held on a $500 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
