A North Judson man accused of a violent burglary in Knox was apprehended in Plymouth June 8.
Christopher Fields, 52, of North Judson had been wanted on warrants out of Starke County for Burglary Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 2 Felony, Burglary, a Level 4 Felony, Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon, a Level 5 Felony, Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 5 Felony, and Theft, a Class A Misdemeanor.
The alleged burglary occurred on West Ellis St in Knox on April 23. According to court documents, the victim in the burglary had been sleeping when Fields allegedly struck them in the head. Police say Fields had unlawfully entered the residence before the assault, which resulted in serious injuries to the victim.
A warrant was put out for Fields's arrest on May 4. He was eventually taken into custody by officers from the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the Plymouth Police Department on June 8, after being discovered while riding a bicycle in Plymouth.
The investigation was conducted by the newly established Starke County MCU75. MCU75 is a multi-agency investigative task force from the Knox, North Judson and Hamlet Police Departments and the Starke County Sheriff's Department.
