There was some good news reported to the St. Francisville City Council Wednesday evening.

Mayor T.J. Moyes indicated to the members that the new St. Francisville Bridge is expected to open and be ready for vehicular traffic on Tuesday, September 16th. Work on the new $11 million structure began in late 2023. The 13-span bridge will replace the original single lane overflow bridge. The mayor did indicate that there is still some additional board and tie replacement to be done on the original bridge that is expected to occur once the new bridge is in use. Samron Midwest Contracting is in charge of the project.

Also, during the session, the council approved putting up the former City Hall building located at 810 Main Street up for bid. It had been used up until two months ago by the city when it was decided to move back to the former St. Francisville school location for convenience. Sealed bids for the property will be accepted until the next council meeting on October 8th when they will be opened.
