Missing elderly Missouri man with dementia found uninjured following police pursuit

A man missing from Missouri was found in Hancock County early monday morning following a police pursuit.

Authorities in Hancock County were contacted by IMPD about 4 a.m. At that time, officers from Indianapolis were responding to OnStar that the vehicle was near the Marion - Hancock county line. They were concerned that he might exit the county before they arrived. Reports out of Missouri indicated that the 70-year-old man had dementia, recent head surgery and other medical issues.

The man's vehicle was eventually found on Hancock CR 300 West. The man drove away when deputies tried to stop him, reached I-70 and drove east. From there, the pursuit never reached speeds over 80 mph.

With the use of tire deflation devices the pursuit finally ended in Wayne County when the fleeing vehicle drove down into the media along I-70.

No injuries were reported but the man was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. Due to the man's health issues, no charges are expected to be filed in Hancock County.

The man's name has not been released.
