Mi Camino Real announces closing after 20 years in Plymouth

A beloved fixture of Plymouth's dining scene is preparing to close its doors. Mi Camino Real, located on North Michigan Street, announced Saturday afternoon via Facebook that this week will mark the final days of service at their current location.

In a heartfelt letter posted to their Facebook page, the Lopez Family shared that after 20 years in business, they have been asked to vacate the building by August 17th. Their final scheduled day of service will be Sunday, August 9th, though the family noted that the closing could come sooner if kitchen inventory runs out before then.

"After 20 incredible years, the time has come for us to say goodbye to the place we've called home for so long," the letter reads.

The family acknowledged that the past year brought unexpected hardships, but expressed deep gratitude for the loyal customers who continued to show up through it all.

"Through every challenge, one thing never changed — you," the letter states. "Your support, your encouragement, your kind words, and simply choosing to walk through our doors reminded us why we've been here for more than two decades."

While the current chapter is coming to a close, the Lopez Family made clear this is not the end of Mi Camino Real. Though they have not yet signed a lease on a new location, they say they are actively working to secure a new home for the restaurant.

"We didn't get to choose how this chapter ends, but we do get to choose how the next one begins," the family wrote. "And we promise you — we're not done yet."

The family is inviting the community to stop in this week to share in one final meal at the current location before the doors close.

"If Mi Camino Real has ever been part of your family's story, we would love the opportunity to serve you one more meal before these doors close," the letter says. "This isn't goodbye. It's simply a 'see you later.' We'll be back. We just need a new place to call home."
