In recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Major Health Partners (MHP) invites the community to a free Lung Cancer Awareness Event on Thursday, November 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MHP Medical Center (2451 Intelliplex Drive, Shelbyville, IN — main lobby, inside entrance 2).
This educational and interactive event will highlight the importance of early detection and offer attendees a unique opportunity to see MHP’s new ION Robot up close. The ION Robot is used by MHP pulmonologist Dr. Naga Sirikonda to perform robotically assisted bronchoscopies, enabling enhanced access to and visualization of the lung airways for the biopsy of suspicious nodules. Early detection of lung cancer is critical, and through the combined use of advanced robotic technology and low-dose CT screenings, we can identify cancer at an earlier, more treatable stage.
Event highlights Include:
• Education on why early screening saves lives
• Opportunities to meet MHP’s pulmonology team
• Live demonstrations of the Intuitive ION robot
• Assistance in beginning the lung cancer screening process
This event is free and open to the public.
Who should be screened for lung cancer?
You may qualify for a low-dose CT lung screening if you meet all of the following criteria:
Age 50 to 80
20 pack-year or more smoking history
Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years
Join MHP for this important community event and take the first step toward protecting your lung health. To learn more visit www.mymhp.org/lungscreening or call MHP Pulmonology at 317.421.1914.
