The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) and Constellation have named a local fourth grader as the National County Government Month essay contest winner for the AIC’s Northwest District.
Tempest Morgan’s essay was chosen over entries from other fourth graders across the district. Morgan, a student at Jefferson Elementary, received $100 for winning the contest. Winners were chosen in each of the AIC’s six districts.
This year’s theme was “Favorite Indiana Governor.” Essays were judged on how well students focused on their favorite Indiana Governor and the information they provided.
Morgan was awarded the prize on March 21st during the AIC Northwest District Meeting in Marshall County. The meeting also included a synopsis of the 2024 Indiana Legislative Session by AIC legislative staff.
The Association of Indiana Counties, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established in 1957 for the betterment of county government. The various functions of the AIC include lobbying the Indiana General Assembly on behalf of counties, serving as liaison among counties, state and federal agencies as well as providing technical assistance and training to county officials and employees. www.indianacounties.org.
