Marshall County Sheriff releases July 2026 Jail and Department report

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel released the July 2026 Jail and Sheriff's Department monthly report, detailing inmate bookings, jail population, and the wide-ranging activities of the Sheriff's Office over the past month.

A total of 164 inmates were booked into the Marshall County Jail in July. Operating while intoxicated topped the list of offenses with 24 arrests, followed by operator never licensed with 20 arrests, and failure to appear with 19 arrests. Driving while suspended accounted for 18 arrests, and battery rounded out the top five with 13 arrests.

The remaining top ten offenses included possession of marijuana with 13 arrests, out-of-county holds with 12 bookings, domestic battery with 11 arrests, resisting law enforcement with 8 arrests, and possession of methamphetamine with 7 arrests.

Of the 164 arrests in July, the Bourbon and Culver Police Departments each made 2 arrests, Community Corrections made 3, the Argos Police Department made 4, Bremen Police made 8, and Indiana State Police troopers made 9. Plymouth Police officers accounted for 61 arrests, while Marshall County Sheriff's Department officers made 75 arrests — the most of any agency.

On Jail County Day, July 28, the Marshall County Jail held a total of 127 inmates — 98 males and 29 females. The population included 1 inmate serving time on misdemeanor charges, 21 serving time on felony charges, 79 held pre-trial, 17 awaiting arraignment, 3 held for another agency, and 2 on court-order holds. The average daily jail population for July was 122.

There are currently 1,319 active warrants to be served.

Deputies investigated 75 accidents in July — 56 involving property damage, 18 involving personal injury, and 2 fatalities. The department initiated 104 case reports, issued 69 warnings or traffic citations, and conducted 44 security checks.

The Marshall County Central Dispatch Center answered a total of 6,730 calls in July, including 1,498 911 calls. Notably, 99.53% of calls were answered in 10 seconds or less. The Marshall County Sheriff's Department also responded to 1,335 calls for service during the month.
