Marshall County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Jack Garner issued an update this morning, advising residents that road conditions remain hazardous due to persistent ice and a new snow forecast. The county remains under a Travel Advisory.
As of 7:45 AM today, roads throughout Marshall County are in varying conditions, with ice presenting a more significant challenge than recent snowfall. Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution and reduce speeds if travel is absolutely necessary.
"We are seeing widespread icy conditions that are making travel treacherous," stated EMA Director Jack Garner. "While the winds have subsided, the ice is a major concern. We ask everyone to take it slow and allow extra time if they must be out on the roads."
An additional 2 to 3 inches of snow is forecasted to begin tonight, coinciding with the after-work commute. This new precipitation is expected to make roads slick once again, with potential impacts bleeding into Tuesday morning travel.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather forecasts and official advisories. The Travel Advisory means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. Only essential travel is recommended, and individuals should use caution when driving or walking.
