Lyford Fire Department was assisted by Rosedale, Otter Creek, the City of Clinton, Black Diamond, Mecca, Fairview and the Rockville Fire Department, as well as the Parke County Sheriff's Office and Parke County EMS.
The Lyford Fire Department, as well as other Parke County fire departments found themselves busy Friday afternoon, battling a fire in the 1000 block of South Pam Drive.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a heavy fire showing from a camper trailer that had entered another structure. In approximately 30 minutes, firefighters were able to bring both fires under control.
According to responding firefighters, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, however, a dog perished in the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be a heater that had been placed under the camper in an attempt to thaw frozen pipes.
