A trespassing complaint in rural Marshall County led deputies to discover a stolen vehicle Friday morning, resulting in the arrest of a Leesburg man who also had an active warrant out of Fulton County.
At approximately 8:20 a.m. on July 17, deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department responded to the 7000 block of Tulip Road for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with both the property owner and the suspected trespasser, identified as Kassidy Phipps of Leesburg.
During the investigation, deputies determined that a vehicle in Phipps's possession had been reported stolen out of Michigan. A records check also revealed that Phipps had an active warrant through Fulton County.
Phipps was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on a charge of theft, a Level 6 Felony, and issued a $1,500 cash bond. The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Readers are reminded that criminal charges are merely allegations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
