The Lawrence County Historical Society (LCHS) has announced it will make a presentation on the history of Sumner in February.

It is scheduled for Saturday, February 21st at 1:30 p.m. at the Sumner City Hall located at 224 South Christy Avenue. There will be free admission and refreshments courtesy of the city of Sumner.

Those who attend will be able to learn some interesting facts about the western Lawrence County city and its past. The city was established as a stop along the Ohio and Mississippi Railway in the early 1850s. It was named after settler Benjamin Sumner in 1855 and was later incorporated in the year 1887.
